I was very active in my teenage years through early twenties, then things changed. I started college, worked full time and I wasn’t concerned about my health. I felt overwhelmed and food became my new best friend. Before I knew it, I was a size 5. I would wear large shirts to hide my baby fat. I did not like this new person I had become, but I did not know how to fix it.
I would go to the gym and then stop. I had no drive, I hated the gym, then one day a friend thought it would be a fun idea to join pageantry just to see how it would be. My first pageant I did well making it as first runner up. I loved the competition but I knew I needed the professional training to prepare for my next pageant. Fitness was my weakness so I had to prepare. I started training with Personal Trainer Malcolm in early November to prepare for the next pageant in April. Early on in our sessions he told me that proper fitness begins at home, you are what you eat. I had no idea what he meant. He taught me healthy nutrition habits and exercise techniques. I was doing everything wrong before, and now, with Malcolm, I was finally on the right track.
I lost the baby fat and turned it into muscle. I won my second pageant and I felt better inside and out. I wake up with energy everyday. In such a short period of time I have come to realize I can do whatever I want to do with discipline and determination.
No longer do I feel like I have to hide. I am proud of how far I have reached my goals and I am still striving. This is not a temporary thing, it has become a lifestyle.
